Oh, the many many fabulous memories I’ve shared with the one and only Meme. It’s hard to nail down only a few of my favorites to reminisce with you on your birthday, but I’ve managed to outline some of the top “meme-ries” in my mind.
Meme-may you have the most fabulous, sparkly, silver & gold birthday today! I wish I could be there with you to celebrate at Long Horn or Applebee’s or one of the many epic Birthday lunch/dinner spots that have made the top of our lists over the years, but am confident the rest of the fam will hold down the fort for me.
I’ve had so many fun times with you, Meme! From finding excuses for just the two of us to extend our trips when KU kept winning in Chicago to go to San Jose, to my very first time coming to NYC over Thanksgiving to (hey, whaddya know!) watch KU play when I was a little girl, I am very lucky to have you as my partner-in-crime! Not to mention, you never failed to keep me in check when I was spending way too much time focusing on my then-favorite technology, my beloved Tamagotchi toy when visiting NYC, and later when my cell phone kept ringing in San Jose and you told me it sounded like a mooing cow. haha! I truly appreciate your knack to keep me focused on the real and the now. But also appreciate your willingness to learn that mystery of a thing called iPhones so that now we can face-time, text and email on the reg!
I also know that it’s not every grandma who gets excited to go out and show her granddaughter how to properly chip a golfball when she randomly took up the sport in high school with her friend Erin, or teach some New Jersey chick I brought home with me over Thanksgiving and me the proper way to optimize a “slush fund” at the Legends casino slot machines. You never cease to amaze me, surprise me, to keep me on my toes and to make me laugh every day. I am so glad to call you- a funny, smart, sassy and fearless woman-my grandmother- and hope I pack as much of a punch at 76 as you do. ?
